OUR HISTORY the history of the ministry of Jerusalem Rivers
During the early 80's, Ron & Jean attended King of Kings Full Gospel Tabernacle, Hackensack, NJ. In 1982, their music ministry, Jerusalem Rivers was founded through prophetic utterance and vision (read about this on our "HOME" page) . Original members of the group were Ron & Jean, Carl Dixon, Cassandra Evans and Leon Butts. The group ministered their unique brand of soulful traditional and original gospel music sprinkled with Hebraic melodies throughout congregations and for wedding celebrations in the New Jersey-New York areas. Jerusalem Rivers also launched a prison ministry where they witnessed great moves of the Holy Spirit as many men and youth repented and made decisions to follow a biblically based lifestyle. Some of these facilities included: Ossining State Prison, NY (a/k/a "Sing Sing") Rahway State Prison, Rahway, NJ Yardville Youth Correctional Facility, Yardville, NJ Woodbourne Correctional Facility, Woodbourne, NY Hackensack County Jail, Hackensack, NJ
In 1984, Ron & Jean continued with their ministry and were blessed with the addition of featured artist, Bill Crandall. Bill was an established singer/saxophonist who also wrote and performed the hit songs, "Short Shorts" by the Royal Teens and "Lies" by The Knickerbockers." Other members of the group included Reggie Jones who was a member of many famous Motown singing groups and John Soto, who served the group ministering in Spanish. They continued to minister in music at area churches and visited virtually every Christian denominational as well as Roman Catholic Church group.
In 1989, under the group name, RAPTURE, Jerusalem Rivers recorded and released the original album, "APOCALYPTIC HORSEMEN" under Quick Silver Records, Aesedia, CA . This Christian rock album made waves with its hard hitting music and challenging biblical lyrical content.
In 1993 Jerusalem Rivers' third recording came out under the title, "The Lord Is One." In this collection, influences from Rabbi Shlomo Carlbach, well known Chassidic singer/songwriter, inspired the bulk of the work. Original arrangements of selected psalms rounded out the collection. In 1998, Jerusalem Rivers was comprised of Ron & Jean with Rev. Antonios Thigpen and Leon Butts. They recorded an album entitled "One Way," a collection of original gospel songs. This album was well received and ministered to hundreds of people, turning them to the gospel message. Featured on this album was Lenny Welch. Lenny was a well known balladeer of the early 60's best known for his hit records, "Since I Fell For You," "Ebb Tide," and "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do." Lenny lent his smooth vocals to the collection on his moving rendition of the gospel favorite, "Precious Lord."

From 1990 to 1996 Ron & Jean were worship leaders at Jesus Harvest Time Ministries in Jackson NJ. They were also guest worship leaders at Tabernacle of Glory Church in Asbury Park NJ and continued to minister in the NY/NJ areas, ministering their own unique Messianic melodies and lifting up the name of Yahushua!
In 1996 Ron & Jean relocated to Naples, Florida where they now make their home. Their search for truth continued and it was then that they first heard the precious name of their Creator, YHWH (pronounced "YAH-OO-WAY) and knew that they were home.
They began a study of the Torah and began to see their connection to the land of Yisrael and the people as their own. They started to keep the Sabbath and observe the Feasts of YHWH feeling that they finally found their place in His plan.
This new direction also served to confirm and solidify their musical direction and commitment to explore Israelite and Chassidic expressions of scripture in music - a direction pointed out to them from the early 80's by the hand of Yah! Since then and to the present, they continue to record music with a renewed passion and understanding of their true heritage as members of the Yisraelite family. From 2002 to the present they have recorded and released four Messianic Yisraelite true name collections lifting up both the name of the Father, YHWH, Redeemer, Yahushua and the Ruach Ha Quodesh (Holy Spirit.)
"Jerusalem Rivers " has indeed found its fulfillment as "Naharim Yahrushalayim," a ministry ordained by YHWH to serve the body and help believers worldwide to worship through and with the Ruach Ha Kodesh in spirit and in truth!
Baruch Ha Shem YHWH !
(Blessed Be The Name of YHWH !)
